A smart helmet-based wearable personnel proximity warning system was developed to prevent collisions between equipment and pedestrians in mines. The helmet worn by receives signals transmitted Bluetooth beacons attached heavy equipment, light vehicles, or dangerous zones, provides visual LED warnings the operators simultaneously. performance test of proposed conducted an underground limestone mine. It confirmed that as transmission power beacon increased, low energy (BLE) signal detection distance also increased. average BLE at least 10 m, regardless facing angle beacon. subjective workload for smartphone-, glasses-, (PWS) evaluated using National Aeronautics Space Administration task load index. All six parameters were lowest when PWS. PWS can provide alerts both operator pedestrian, it be expanded worker health monitoring hazard awareness functions adding sensors Arduino board.
